Halassy Oliver Community Swimming Pool Complex is on 2 139 square metres. There is a three-floor swimming pool - recreation centre in which you can find a FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation - International Swimming Federation) approved 275 square metre pool and also a wellness unit which is suitable for recreation satisfying the demand of sportsmen and visitors.

The complex with its 1 165 square metres is sitting on a 2 139 square metre lot. 


The depth of the larger pool reaches 1.8 metres on one side. The water temperature in the swimming pool is 27 °C (80.6 °F), in the learner pool is 30 °C (86 °F) and 36 °C (96.8°F) in the whirlpool.

The most up-to-date water cleaning systems and filter pumps had been installed.

The Town Swimming Pool of Újpest is environment-friendly and money-saving

The Town Council of Újpest is committed to environment-friendly solution. The Council decided in planning stage yet to solve the heating and hot water supply of new swimming pool by renewing power resources, that the operation costs would be in future as cheap as possible. The selection of optimal solution preceeded by on-field tests, long calculations and variant analyses. By tests were aware the on-field specifics, and the investment costs were compared to revenue factors. The outcome has shown, that for long-term economical heat supply of swimming pool a water-well heat pump system is the best solution. The main two reasons of decision were the environment-friendly technology and the cheap operation.

This system would be called in another places “green energy” investment, but we, local-patriots of Újpest, according to local traditions, called it “purple energy” Vigyor. The chosen system using the heat energy of soil water, which, compared to a traditional heating system, featuring a 50 percents cheaper operation. The maximally 650 litres per minute of soil water, pumped out from five source wells, in heat pumps gives a part of its heat power away, then it returns through ten swallowing wells in the soil. By this process, its temperature decreasing from 12°C (53.6°F) to 6°C (42.8°F). Before working out the wells, there were hydrodinamical model calculations, since it was an important thing, that the low-temperature water could not return the source wells. The extracted heat power from soil water is forwarded by four heat pumps to the pools and showers, by investing one unit of electric power, forwarding cca. 5 units of heat power to the building.

The increased investment costs of renewing power use, by cheaper operation costs would be in seven years returned. For that is in addition, that the Council could favorably contract with the electric power supplier.
